Eighth graders Carley Norton and Katie Fales prepare for their last days of middle school

Ella Coyle, Torch Writer

Eighth graders just found themselves at the top of the ladder but now with the end of the year in sight they are preparing to become the under classmen once again.  Even though it will not be a different building they will be walking down unfamiliar halls with many new  faces, as well as different teachers.

Along with excitement to start high school many eighth graders worry about the amount of school work there will be in ninth grade.  Lily Johnson says “I worry about doing well because all of my sibling’s ninth grade year was their hardest.”  Erlyn Strelow knows that it is going to be a tough change but she also understands that she will be able to get through it.

Even though many eighth graders are looking forward to and a little nervous about high school, they are still looking back on some of the memories of middle school.  For McKenna Erickson her best memory was running track in sixth grade.  Shayla Wenker’s favorite memory is also so predicating in a sport but for her it is playing softball.  When Abby Collins saw “Happy Birthday” written on her locker the morning of her 14th birthday, she knew that it was going to be one of her best memories of middle school.

For now all that they can worry about is getting through the end of this year and then comes the worries of next year.
