“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.” ~Flavia Weedn Tony Meyer, the AP U.S History and Economics teacher, has left footprints on Cannon Falls High School. This year, Mr. Meyer has decided to retire. He has been teaching classes at Cannon Falls for 16 years. Josh Olson, a previous CFHS graduate, will be his replacement next year. Heather Loeschke, a colleague of Mr. Meyer, says that she has known him since 2001. Her favorite qualities about him are his sense of humor and his valuable advice. Reminiscing, Loeschke states that her favorite memories with Mr. Meyer were made while traveling to Washington D.C with We The People and to presidential inaugurations. Smiling, she adds that he was her “traveling buddy.” She shares “he is my rock, my best friend in the building, and I am going to miss him dearly”

The students will miss him greatly, too. Among those students is Mckenna Bauer, a sophomore, who had him as an AP U.S History teacher. Bauer loves that he always seemed happy, and that “nobody could ever be mad at him.” She laughs as she remembers how he would smile at her, and everyone else, in the hallways everyday. On a scale of 1,000 to 100,000, she says she will miss him 100,000,000,000. As Loeschke asserts, “Mr. Meyer is the heart and soul of Cannon Falls High School.” He impacted countless lives at CFHS, and he will be greatly missed.
